An unexpected consequence of the “Beer Summit”

Posted by Noah Davis On August - 3 - 20091 COMMENT

According to at least one source — okay, it’s the USA Today, but still… — last week’s “Beer Summit” between President Barack Obama, Professor Henry Gates Jr., and Sargent James Crowley might help increase slow beer sales.

The country’s focus on beer should be good for the industry. “Regardless of the beer picks, it’s been great buzz for the beer industry,” Julian Green, MillerCoors spokesman, said. “It puts beer top of mind.”

Anheuser-Busch president Dave Peacock, who watched as the President drank his brand, took a different tack. “There seems to be a recognition that beer is a product that people share with friends, and that brings people together,” he said.

As long as they aren’t drinking wine, you know?
