Brewery offers free beer with San Antonio Spurs victory

Posted by Noah Davis On November - 6 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

Earlier this week, San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili swatted a bat out of the air during a game.

And this is related to beer how? Well, Freetail Brewing Co. announced they will give away one free beer to everyone at the brewery every time the Spurs win for the rest of the season and no bat gets hurt. They will also donate $1 per patron to Bat Conservation International.

In other words, hightail it to Freetail.

Get your cold (free) Pabst

Posted by Noah Davis On July - 10 - 20096 COMMENTS

Free any Saturdays during August? If so, you might want to get yourself to the Pabst Mansion where Pabst Brewing Company will be giving out samples of its beers — Pabst Blue Ribbon, Schlitz, Old Style, and Old Milwaukee Light — while offering tours of the premises. (Is it really a mansion? Can someone please go and confirm? Or send some pictures? We’re intrigued.)

The events will run from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd of the month. If you miss them, you’ll have to get Pabst powered on your own dime.

Church uses free beer to attract more men

Posted by Noah Davis On June - 22 - 20094 COMMENTS

Ladies, our secret is out! Bribing men to do something with the promise of beer is an age-old practice mastered by busy wives everywhere. But now, even the Church of England is beginning to embrace the power of free beer.

The lack of male attendance this year prompted the church to celebrate Father’s day by giving dads free bottles of beer, bacon rolls, and chocolate bars.

“It’s something that could be used as part of a service to encourage fathers to come,” Rt. Rev John Inge, the Bishop of Worcester, told the Telegraph. “Once they are in church, hopefully they will be challenged by the deeper questions around fatherhood.”

Bishop Inge hopes to see an increase of men attending church services, and like most wives will tell you, offering free beer is probably a great way to make that happen.

No more free beer for Molson Coors Pensioners

Posted by Noah Davis On June - 9 - 20091 COMMENT

There are 2,400 retired Molson Coors employees living in Canada and they each receive six dozen free beers a month, or 864 per year. That’s about to change as the company, in an attempt to cut costs, is quitting that practice. For the next five years, the pensioners will get a dozen beers a month, but after that, they won’t receive any at all.

Molson, which operates a brewer in St. John’s, Newfoundland, says the freebies cost the company almost C$1 million ($907,070) per year and that it’s no longer sustainable. Sad.

Free beer for Fargo residents

Posted by Noah Davis On May - 8 - 20091 COMMENT

Fargo, North Dakota residents finally have something to celebrate. The citizens, which spent much of the last month protecting the city from floods, can now sit back and enjoy a beer courtesy of Mayor Dennis Walaker.

Walaker told his charges that he would buy everyone a beer when the flooding was over. Apparently, Dixie Brewing Company in New Orleans — another town that knows something about floods — heard about the promise and sent 24,000 beers to North Dakota. They will be distributed (one per person) in a post-flood party.

Free beer, always a reason so celebrate.
