Perform charity, drink cheap beer

Posted by Noah Davis On December - 21 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

Craggie Brewing Co. wants to help its patrons give back this holiday season.

The Ashville, NC brewery is offering 21.5 oz Willis for $2.75. The only catch: You much donate to Children First/Communities in Schools’.

The charity needs all sorts of items ranging from cleaning supplies and disinfectant wipes to copy paper and #2 pencils.

That doesn’t sound like too much trouble for a cheap beer, now does it?

Earlier this week, San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili swatted a bat out of the air during a game.

And this is related to beer how? Well, Freetail Brewing Co. announced they will give away one free beer to everyone at the brewery every time the Spurs win for the rest of the season and no bat gets hurt. They will also donate $1 per patron to Bat Conservation International.

In other words, hightail it to Freetail.

Karl Strauss Brewing Company gives back

On May 9, Karl Strauss — San Diego’s first microbrewery — held its annual Beach to Brewery beer and music festival. The event, which drew 2,500 people, was also a celebration of the company’s 20th anniversary and featured 20 different beers including 20th Anniversary Bourbon Aged Trippel, Pineapple IPA, and Tower 10 IPA.

More importantly, however, was the charity aspect of the celebration. Karl Strauss raised $13,00 for the Surfrider Foundation, a “non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches.” Karl Strauss and Surfrider also teamed up for its 2nd Annual beach clean-up in Mission Beach.

And that’s your feel-good story for this Friday afternoon.
