Guinnes brewery goes up in flames

• Dec 22nd, 2009 • Category: Beer News

Literally.

A blaze at Guinness’ Dublin facility did massive damage to a storage building and left two firefighters with respiratory-related injuries.

How’d it start? Well, according to a the Associated Press, “Guinness parent company Diageo PLC said the fire started while a construction worker used a blow torch to repair the felt-lined roof of the unoccupied building.”

Given that bit of information, somehow the outcome doesn’t seem all that surprising.

(No beer was harmed in the making of this post.)
