More about that whole “beer preventing prostate cancer” thing

Last week, we mentioned a questionably sourced, totally vague article that discussed how beer might prevent prostate cancer. Well, thanks to the miracle of the Internet, we have some more details.
According to a study conducted at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, xanthohumol — the tannin that gives beer its bitter taste — can also delay the onset of prostate cancer.
From the article: “Xanthohumol blocks male testosterone receptors, which may be why ingesting the molecule helps prevent the development of prostate cancer.”
Perhaps those bitter beer face ads were on to something?
