Blue Moon Brewing celebrates rare coincidence this Dec. 31st with new beer
• Dec 2nd, 2009 • Category: Beer ReleasesThis New Year’s Eve is cause for celebration at Blue Moon Brewing Co. as the end of 2009 will happen under a blue moon.
Scientifically known as the second full moon in a calendar month, a blue moon hasn’t come on New Year’s Eve since 1990, and the next one won’t be until 2028. How does a craft brewery celebrate its namesake astrological occurrence? With beer.
A limited-edition Blue Moon Grand Cru will follow the traditional Belgian style, and has rich, creamy notes with hints of orange peel and coriander. It delivers a warm, spicy finish coming in strong with 8.2 percent ABV.
“We can’t take credit for scheduling a blue moon on New Year’s Eve, but we’re certainly making the most of it, and rewarding beer lovers at the same time,” said Michael Browne, vice president of marketing for Blue Moon.
Blue Moon Grand Cru will be in stores today in 750 ml bottles for about $10. Look for Blue Moon Brewing’s first national commercial on the air soon, or watch it on Youtube.
