First-class beer school with first-class price tag

• Oct 8th, 2009 • Category: Beer News

If you were thinking about going back to school, here is a little tidbit that might tickle your beer-loving fancy. The Siebel Institute of Technology is offering a four-day Draught Beer Technical Skills Course with two different start times in November and February.

Class takes place at none other than state-of-the-art MillerCoors Brewing Draught Training Center in Golden, Colorado, the world’s largest brewing plant.

Graduates of the course will walk away with training of craft, import, and specialty beer dispense systems; including knowledge of beer line, pressure and system cooling design installation as well as special event and novelty dispense. They will also be trained to evaluate and maintain existing dispense systems based on the 2009 Brewers Association Draught Beer Quality Manual, and overseen by Martin Schuster, director of The Siebel Draught Program. Over the past 40 years, Schuster has trained over 1,000 students from various companies world-wide.

Be warned however, this hands-on, academic course has a similar price tag to that of a semester in higher education. But look at the bright side, a broken keg will never ruin your party again.
