Tasting Notes: Full Sail LTD Series No. 3
• Aug 21st, 2009 • Category: Tasting notes
When a brewery comes out with a new limited-edition brand, we can’t help but approach it with caution. While we love to indulge in a brewer’s inspiration to create something different, we also find that the platform can be a little too intoxicating for the creator, resulting in over-the-top brews. With Full Sail’s LTD Series, this continues to not be the case.
Much like the first two, No. 3, an American-style pilsner, could easily hit the market as a year-round offering with lots of fanfare. This excellently-balanced, not overly complicated pils goes down smooth and comfortably, starting with a touch of initial sweetness, followed by a bit of hops bitterness in the middle, and just enough to scrub the tongue at the end. It’s really simplicity at its best: The nicely constructed profile allows the imbiber to just sit back and sip away, without over-analyzing a multitude of flavors. In fact, the only thing disappointing about this 5.6%-ABV brew is the fact that it’s a limited-time offer. Drink up while you can.
