Rogue goes German
• Jun 10th, 2009 • Category: Beer Releases
Rogue Ale’s version of a Bierfest beer: Maierfest. The brewery’s seasoned brewmaster, John Maier, fine-tuned the new German style lager over the course of his travels to Germany. He stepped into the shoes of his ancestors by drinking many different kinds of German beer and went on a mission to find the brew that best embodied the Munich brewery character.
He created a traditional dark gold German lager with a dry finish and rich, malty flavor. To match the German brewing style, the Oregon-based brewery uses a type of yeast that blends lager strains, called Oktoberfest 2633 yeast, to brew its new release.
Maierfest will be available around the country in August in a 22-ounce bottle with a drawing of its creator on the label. Just in time for Oktoberfest. Apparently Rogue Ale is looking forward to the German beer celebration as much as we are.
