When getting a beer trumps the call of duty

By Noah Davis • May 28th, 2009 • Category: Beer News

Driving a hearse for a living isn’t fun (we would imagine). That doesn’t, however, give one an excuse to stop off for a beer before delivering a body to a funeral.

Earlier this week, Tito Vasquez was scheduled to be buried. Friends and family gathered at Campos de Cristo cemetery in Bogota, Columbia and waited for the body to arrive. And waited. And waited.

Vasquez’s remains never showed up. After calling the police, the body was eventually found in the back of a hearse parked in a nearby motel parking lot. The driver had gone for a beer and apparently completely forgotten about his cargo. He did not even offer Vasquez a pint.
