Who wants to buy Rolling Rock?

No, not an individual beer, the entire bottling line. Anheuser-Busch, which purchased the makers of the lovely green bottles three years ago from In Bev for $82 million, wants to sell the Rock. Actually, In Bev — the company that now owns AB — is looking to sell the beer that’s “Born Small Town.” Yes, this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but just roll with it, okay?
According to The Wall Street Journal, potential suitors include North American Breweries Inc. — which purchased High Falls Brewing Co. and Labatt USA (from In Bev) earlier this year — and C2 Imports LLC. The article doesn’t mention anything about you owning it, but it’s always a possibility. You have $80 million lying around, right?

Ah, the 33. I would so own this!
The most amazing beer from a humble, storybook beggining now prostituted by Anheuser-Busch. It’s all I drink and I wouldn’t change that for the world but it makes me sad how such an amazing label was mishandled and neglected. Some marketing vps at A-B should be sent packing for such a poor performance with a strong product. Forever 33.
As a long-time Yuengling drinker, I was horrified when Rolling Rock was bought out by the big boys, and shipped off to Jersey. No wonder most of their base gave up on them. Now, the former Latrobe brewery is back in buisness, brewing Iron City, and just waiting for the return of their flagship. I can only hope it happens, then I can partake of the return of the true “Bucket of Rocks”
