Flying Dog launching low-alcohol craft line

• Apr 1st, 2009 • Category: Beer News

Those jokesters at Flying Dog are always developing new beers and they’ve really outdone themselves today with the announcement of a new series featuring low-alcohol beers.

The “Canis Minor Series” will include four beers with alcohol content ranging from 0.9% ABV to 1.59% ABV.

“When the Marketing Department originally presented this idea to the production team, we thought they were nuts,” Matt Brophy, VP of brewing operations, said in a statement. “But the more we piloted the product and test marketed it, the more we became convinced that low gravity might be the next big thing in craft beer.”

The details:

  • Hot Dog Habanero Ginger Ale — 0.9% ABV, 2 IBU
  • Unicorn Dog Sparkling Barley Wine-style Ale — 1.9% ABV, 4 IBU
  • Raging Bitch Birch Beer — 1.3% ABV, 6 IBU
  • Herberos Belgian-style Root Beer Lager — 1.59% ABV, 7 IBU
  • Oh, the first of April. What a great time to announce a new product. You know it’s real because there’s even a Web site and everything you read on the Internet is true.

    3. After reading through the article, I just feel that I need more information on the topic. Can you share some resources please?

    4. I don’t know about anyone else, but I grew up in Detroit with Coney dogs. They’re definitely the best in my opinion!
