Beer Jeopardy: Beer Stylin’
By Noah Davis • Mar 5th, 2009 • Category: Beer Jeopardy
After seeing the category “beer” on “Jeopardy” last month we got to thinking that it would be a fun idea for the site. So, starting today, we’re introducing a new weekly feature on DRAFTMag.com: Beer Jeopardy. Each Thursday, we’ll run a series of beer-themed answers focused on one category. Feel free to show off your knowledge in the comments or by emailing us. (Also, if you’d like to contribute a category, email us as well. We’ll make sure to give you full credit.)
We kick the feature off with questions about beer styles, courtesy of DRAFT’s beer director, Rick Sellers. The answers will be posted later today. Good luck and enjoy.
$200 — This beer style has been the most popular beer in competition at the GABF for the past four years.
$400 — This style of beer is also referred to as California Common.
$600 — This beer style is often referred to as “black Pilsner.”
$800 — Napoleon’s troops referred to this beer style as “the Champagne of the North” in 1809.
$1,000 — This beer style literally translates to “beer that has been kept” (or lagered).

$800 was a tough one, I would of buzzed in, but run out of time before it came to me. $1400.
