Brit pubs tell metric system to shove off

Any English bar will sell you a pint (or 12). And thanks to a ruling yesterday, this practice will continue indefinitely.
Those evil-doers at the European Union wanted to alter terminology from the comfortable, sensible “pint” to the confusing and (horror!) metric “half-liter,” but the Brits would have none of it. They were all like, “Hells no, chap. We kept the pound; we’re keeping the pint.” And that they did.
Minister for Europe Caroline Flint called the decision “a victory for common sense,” which seems a bit dramatic, but it’s a slow season across the pond.
