DRAFTMag.com exclusive: peak inside Big Daddy’s Cellar
By Noah Davis • Dec 10th, 2008 • Category: Beer NewsThis Saturday (12/13), from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., beer geeks can gather at San Francisco’s Toronado for a first-ever bottle sale. DRAFT spoke with Big Daddy himself, Dave Keene, about the event and learned some interesting tidbits for those in the area.
The sale will take place in the back room of the Toronado, so if you go there please don’t bother the barkeeps with bottle orders. To get an idea of what will be sold, here’s just a sampling of what will be available:
Several Belgian Christmas beers
The entire Ola Dubh series (12, 16 and 30)
Small amounts of De Struisse’s Black Albert & Pannepot
Various Mikkeller labels
Two years of Deschutes’ The Abyss
Pizza Port’s Older Viscosity & Gift of the Magi
Beers that will NOT be sold are Toronado 20th Anniversary (by Russian River) or Cable Car (by Port Brewing). Depending on how the sale goes for Toronado, it may turn into a quarterly event. Clearly, if you want the best selection possible, arrive early and have cash in hand, because they don’t take credit cards.
