Freedom through beer

Some of us drink beer to get away from it all. To achieve freedom through drunkenness, if you will. We’re not against this — although you won’t find happiness in a bottle — but there must be a better way to get what you want.
Jacques Leduc believes there is. The retired high school teacher co-produces L’Independante, a Canadian beer that will have its revenue channeled back into the Quebec sovereignty movement. According to a study commissioned by Mr. Leduc, 70 percent of respondents approved of a pro-sovereignty beer and would drink two six-packs a year. (Of course, the only respondents were sovereigntists, but details, details.)
So, as the beer’s slogan states, “Vive la biere libre,” whatever that means.
