Train to be a “Master of Beer”

By Jennifer McClellan • Oct 23rd, 2008 • Category: Beer News

You know those annoying guys at parties who walk around claiming to be “Master of Beer” because they can shotgun a can in two seconds? OK, so that’s kind of impressive, but whatever. Now you can really be a beer master thanks to The Siebel Institute’s Master of Beer Styles and Evaluation Program. It’s all you ever dreamed of in an education.

The first day’s class is Sensory Analysis for Flavor Production and Control, which will train you to identify aromas, flavors, and other characteristics of beer and how to control them during the brewing process. Instructor Lyn Kruger brings expert-level content, in-depth discussion, and decades of experience to the course.

For the following three days, beer style experts Ray Daniels and Randy Mosher will be your mentors as they demonstrate the history & evolution of beer from around the world. You will taste “dozens and dozens of beers” — so good luck remembering what you learned. But come on, how could you call yourself a “Master of Beer” without being dragged through the wonderful hoppy beer trenches and coming out alive?

Register soon, the class starts in early November. Visit www.siebelinstitute.com/course_desc/master_beer.html for more information.
