Conventional wisdom

By admin • Aug 15th, 2008 • Category: Beer News

When the Democratic National Convention rolls into to Denver next weekend, liberals will be sated by more than just Obama’s promises of change. To commemorate the occasion, Denver-based Great Divide Brewing Company will tap a single batch of its Liberally Hopped American Pale Ale, a 6.1%-ABV, medium-bodied brew crafted in the spirit of the Left. The beer, featuring Pacific Northwest hops and all-American malts and ale yeast, offers moderate hop bitterness, piney hop flavor and a smooth, subtle malt character.

“We wanted to create something special for the convention,” says head brewer Taylor Rees, “and we decided that of all possible styles, an American pale ale would be the best choice, in terms of both taste and symbolic value. It’s bold and flavorful, but still approachable and highly drinkable. It’s a populist beer that has plenty of substance; I can’t think of a better match for the Democrats in 2008.”

Liberally Hopped will be available on draft only for a very limited time at local bars and the Great Divide Tap Room. For more information, visit www.greatdivide.com.
